2021 Update

“Turning heartbreak into hope” might be the best catch phrase for Concrete Cares of Nebraska in the midst of the Covid pandemic. While all of us have struggled with the heartbreaks of cancelled family holidays, infections among those we love, and uncertainties about what is to come, Concrete Cares of Nebraska has continued outreach, both to those in need of help and those with hearts that make the Grinch’s continue to look “three sizes” too small. As with many non-profit organizations, we prepared for higher need and lessened support as the pandemic altered the lives of so many across Nebraska. Unfortunately, the anticipated increase in need was accurate. Amazingly, the support received … YOUR support, has not waned. Over the last year we have donated $140,000 to 63 families, and distributed an additional $9,000 in gas cards across the state. These donations would be inconceivable if not for the generosity of our donors.

Concrete Cares of Nebraska exists because of people filled with compassion for others. People in Nebraska are quite familiar with three state logos that have existed over the last few decades: ‘Nebraska: the Good Life,’ ‘Nebraska Nice,’ and ‘Nebraska: Honestly, it’s not for everyone.’ No matter which slogan we have, each fits. Nebraskans work to share the good life with each other, express their compassion through their actions, and certainly present a level of genuine care and compassion that isn’t for everyone. So, Nebraskans, thank you for your persistent support and generosity. And, to our out of state donors, thank you for being Nebraskans at heart through your continued generous acts. Because of each of you, we are Concrete Cares of Nebraska, and we have been able to turn some of the heartbreak of 2020 into hope in 2021. We can’t wait to see what we can do in 2022!
