Moving from a vision to a legacy…

That beaming face looking back at you is that of Kyle Poff, one of our founders. This picture captures the kind smile, compassion, and wholehearted presence Kyle offered every person he met. Kyle lived with a desire to help as many people as possible, in every way he could. Although his eagerness to help people came naturally, his commitment to supporting those battling cancer was very personal. Kyle understood the hardships, hurt, and uncertainty of life with cancer, first as a son experiencing the impacts of his mother’s diagnosis, and later through his own journey. What made Kyle so unique was that his experiences didn’t cause him to retreat, rather they motivated him to do more. He wasn’t satisfied with helping friends, his neighborhood, or even his community. He wanted something more: a statewide movement of care. This yearning eventually emboldened Kyle and his father, Stan, to found Concrete Cares of Nebraska.

For over a decade, the Poffs nurtured that vision for statewide care into something extraordinary. Concrete Cares of Nebraska became a lifeline for countless families, and Kyle remained its most passionate advocate, always dreaming of what more could be done. However, on June 24, 2025, our organization and our state lost this compassionate man.

In tribute to Kyle, one of his childhood neighbors wrote, “He was definitely one in a million.” Those of us blessed to know Kyle couldn’t agree more. That statement now inspires us to move forward until we have given away one million dollars for our “one in a million” founder and friend. We aim to reach that milestone by the end of 2026 and then keep going. Another million. And another. Kyle’s spirit of helping deserves to echo for generations across Nebraska.

We thank Kyle for demonstrating the good in the “Good Life” of Nebraska and inspiring all of us to do as much good as we can for those around us. May we do his legacy justice.
